Bluebell moved north in 2013 to start a new life providing narrowboat holidays on the Lancaster Canal. Bluebell is moored in Tewitfield Marina, making her perfectly located as a holiday boat. Tewitfield is only 6 minutes drive from Junction 35 of the M6 from where Bluebell cruises through the idyllic, peaceful Lancashire countryside offering 41 miles of lock-free cruising.
Bluebell is a Liverpool Boat, built in 1999. She is 35ft long, 6ft 10 inches wide and sleeps two adults and two children. She has one fixed double bed to the stern and the option for another double bed to be made up in the saloon for accompanying children.
She comes with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. She has a small but very efficient wood burner. Buoyancy aids are provided. Diesel, gas and car parking are all included in the price of your holiday.

Holidaying Aboard Bluebell on the Lancaster Canal
Bluebell, like most boats on inland waterways, has a top speed of around 3mph so unhurried leisure time is the theme whilst aboard. Stock up on all your provisions at the Greenlands Farm shop in Tewitfields at the beginning of your stay so that you never have to leave Bluebell again for the duration of your holiday, or use the boat as a cruising base to explore the local area and attractions. The local area is ideal for walking, bike riding and getting out and about in nature. There are quality water-front pubs in many locations. The towns of Carnforth, Lancaster and Preston have all local amenities and mainline railway stations if you fancy journeying even further afield. See our ‘Things to Do’ page for more suggestions. If you would like to arrive on your holiday by train, please let us know and we can help you arrange this. There are more journey details on our location page.
Hire Parties with Special Needs
Bluebell is not suitable for wheelchair users. Those with mobility issues should discuss these with us before completing a booking to ensure you will be able to safely access the boat. The hirer accepts responsibility for the care and safety of all party members.
Well behaved pets are very welcome aboard Bluebell. We make no charge for pets aboard but please let us know if you intend to bring your pet with you. Pets must bring their own bedding and keep off the furniture. We may levy an extra charge of £100 if an unusually thorough clean is needed when pets have stayed aboard and they have not behaved themselves!
Bluebell Narrowboat Holidays operate a strict No Smoking policy aboard, for the boat’s safety and for the comfort and good health of all who cruise on her. Bluebell is also governed by smokefree workplace legislation. We could all receive a fine if these laws are not respected. Please take a stroll along the tow path for any necessary cigarette breaks.
